What makes for a fresh washroom
A recent survey conducted online by Harris Interactive among 3,130 adults ages 18 and older, revealed that 89% of users would consider a washroom being uncared for if it smelled unpleasant. In addition, lack of toilet paper (67%) and dirty sani bins and empty soap dispensers (55%) contribute to the impression of a dirty washroom.
Survey respondents have also identified the following restroom issues:
- Unflushed toilets 90%
- Paper towels or toilet paper on the floor 80 %
- Lack of toilet paper 67 %
- Empty soap dispensers 55 %
- Water around the sink area 42 %
- Old or outdated soap dispensers 29 %
Other issues include broken doors or toilet seats, dim lighting, broken, old or outdated hand dryers, dirty sani bins, graffiti, dirty fixtures, soiled toilet seats and water or urine on floors.
“While each facility has different needs based on the traffic flow and types of users, the research helps define a maintenance program to maintain highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in washroom facilities.”
